Introduction to the radioactive soapbox

I would first like to dedicate this site to my wife, who has encouraged me to use this site to rant and rave about my numerous personal agendas and interests.

I am a Senior Health Physics Technician, which means that I am accountable for radiation protection of workers and contamination controls. I have been in this field since 1997 when I began my train in the US Navy. I have worked jobs for the Departments of Energy and Defense, and now at commercial nuclear power plants.

I am involved in an interesting field due to the very political nature of radioactive materials. I have found that many people have extreme misconceptions about radiation and nuclear power, including persons who are employed at nuclear facilities. I hope that I might bring some clarity to this obscure profession.
